دانلود Aqueous synthesis of finely divided pyrite particles

Abstract

Pyrite  (FeS₂)  was  synthesized by  aqueous  precipitation  from  the  reaction  between FeCl₃ and  NaHS  at  room temperature and  atmospheric pressure.  The  solid  product was  purified  by means  of solvent  extraction for elemental sulfur  removal. The  synthetic pyrite particles  were  characterized by X-ray diffraction,  scanning  electron microscopy, energy  dispersive X-ray  spectroscopy,  X-ray  photoelectron  spectroscopy, surface  area  determination  (BET),  zeta potential measurements, and  chemical  analysis.  The purified  solid  analyzed 99.46% FeS₂ with  an  average particle size of 1.5 gm and a  standard deviation of 0.3, a specific surface  area of 4.1 m ² g^-1, and the isoelectric  point (iep) at pH 2.3
