Highly Effi cient and Stable Luminescence from Microbeans Integrated with Cd-Free Quantum Dots for White-Light-Emitting Diodes
چکیده
Abstract
Quantum dots (QDs) have attracted widespread attention for use in white-light-emitting diodes (WLEDs) and QDs-based displays because of their high light-conversion efficiency, tunable emission wavelength, and narrow full width at half maximum (FWHM). [ 1–5 ] As excellent down-conversion luminescence materials, QDs could be integrated with blue-light-emitting LEDs to realize an optimized lighting performance featuring a better color-rendering index (CRI), higher luminous efficiency, and wider color gamut. [ 6–9 ] Group II–VI QDs, mainly including CdSe, PbS and their analogues, demonstrate extraordinary luminescent properties when integrated with an inorganic coating structure, attaining optimal photoluminescence quantum yields (PL QYs) of about 97% and a FWHM of 20 nm. [ 10,11 ] However, their further development is limited because they comprise heavy metals (e.g., Cd, Pb, Hg), which are toxic for human beings and harmful to the environment.
